LUNA NERA Artist Collective

I had the pleasure to participate in the Luna Nera Artist Group BCN event, IN SiTU 07 - Building Memory, which took place in Barcelona in 2007, with the work Floating Souls.

IN SiTU 07 - Building Memory
Centre Cultural la Farinera del Clot, Barcelona, Spain.

The event took place in La Farinera del Clot, an old flour mill, a well known site in the borough of Glories. It provided employment to a lot of local people, and after its closure, the neighbours got together to partly manage building with the council. The former mill is now used as an arts and cultural centre, offering music, theatre, exhibitions and more.

The Luna Nera collective operates as a kind of mobile gallery or institute of urban projects, as a network of projects and persons. Luna Nera makes onsite residencies and researches, and have created a number of large-scale live and visual art exhibitions and events. Venues we have used include a Victorian theatre, 17thC underground prison, Russian naval base, shipyard and factories. Currently Luna Nera works as a network of artists and practices, co-operating with artists in Barcelona, Berlin, London and Paris.
